LOOP is an innovative, student-driven ratings and review site for colleges and schools.
Launched in October 2014, LOOP was set up by the SHM Foundation, as a part of our wider strategy to promote active citizenship among young people in Britain. LOOP was developed in partnership with a group of colleges and sixth forms. LOOP is co-directed by a board of student-advocates recruited from these partner colleges.
Why LOOP? In today’s world, whether you are looking for a hotel, film or a book, you can find out what other people are saying about it online. Yet, in relation to education, there is no dedicated space where people can go to find out what students really think about their colleges and schools. Within education, there has been a culture of ‘tick box’ consultation, which has become discredited in the eyes of students and staff. In most institutions, a small number of hyper-engaged students tend to dominate the student voice, while the large majority remains silent.
LOOP is a direct response to these challenges. It enables students to become active commentators on the way their education is delivered, and to play a role in formulating decisions about improvement. Over the coming years, it aims to become the destination site for access to the most authentic and balanced feedback available on schools and colleges.
From 2015, LOOP is being taken forward by a new not-for-profit social enterprise called Leaders Unlocked. Leaders Unlocked specialises in engaging young people and under-served groups. To find out more about Leaders Unlocked and the progress of LOOP, please go to www.leaders-unlocked.org

Institutions can manage their own profile page by adding logos and links. They can also respond to student reviews.
LOOP asks students to provide balanced, constructive comments about what works well in their institution and the potential solutions for improvement.
